Meet Alex Beauchamp

My passion for travel began over twenty-five years ago at age 6 when my father would take me on long Sunday drives to small towns that were never on maps. We’d stop in little diners, talk to the locals and order soup on hot summer days. We’d learn the history, walk every street and go on rides at the fairs. Each trip was unique, interesting and above all, a learning experience, for they taught me how to look at the world in a different way, talk to people I might not have before, and to be comfortable in a cafe by myself in Paris or Vancouver.
When I graduated high school in 1992 I was given the choice to either enroll in university or hop a plane. Either way, I was told, I had to get an education. Learning how to navigate the world on my own taught me more about myself, the world, cultures, and people than any textbook could have. It also taught me how to be flexible, resourceful and especially patient (whether it was waiting for trains, communicating in a different language or seeing “Mr.” on a reservation sheet when I’m a Miss!).
I spent the next six years travelling and living in Europe, the South Pacific, Western Canada, and all across the United States. I worked for grand hotels, amazing tour companies and mum and pop surf shops. I hiked the West Coast Trail, ice-climbed in New Zealand, surfed the Caymans, rode horseback through the Rockies, camped the Pacific Northwest, hosteled throughout Canada, dined in London’s finest and slept in some of the best hotels in Europe. The diversity of my journeys and various jobs gave me a unique point of view on travel and storytelling.
In 2001 I combined my passion for travel with my love of writing to bring stories from around the world to you. From backpacking adventures to holiday vacations, two weeks to two months, bed and breakfasts to the finest hotels, my motto for travel is always the same, “Make the ordinary, extraordinary” — whether it be in your own backyard or half way across the world.
With Anywhere Everywhere, you can discover a new place to visit by reading a feature article or see if a hotel is worth your stay. You can also find helpful travel information but if I missed something, you can always contact me.
While I am often paid to write about my travel and experiences for magazines, I am never paid to promote or sell a place, service, tour or hotel. Also, every place I mention has been visited and every experience, made. It’s all first-hand knowledge and not a regurgitated PR list. I don’t accept ads on this site (except for Google Ads) so you can be sure that each article and Tweet is an honest review. Because part of traveling is sharing your experiences (good and bad) with others whether it’s over coffee in New York or via the web in your room.
Alex (who immigrated to America in 1999 and currently splits her time between Santa Barbara, CA and Copenhagen, Denmark).
