Kimpton arrives in Whistler BC

When the leaves turn colour and a slight nip hits the air, I feel myself wanting to find a perfect fall getaway somewhere in the mountains. Somewhere where I can relax, recharge and feel a million miles away while actually having everything I need just outside my hotel door. It seems the Summit Lodge in Whistler British Columbia (a fabulous, busy village just 90minutes from Vancouver) might be the place, according to their latest press release:

“The Summit Lodge, a Kimpton Boutique Hotel, is adding two new services that encourage good health and mental wellness for hotel guests. As of October 1, 2003, the hotel has introduced the Kimpton-wide Yoga Program where guests can borrow yoga kits at no charge. Each yoga kit includes one yoga mat, one block, and one strap. Guests can carry out their own preferred yoga routines in the privacy of their rooms or they can turn to a designated channel on their television for a basic yoga instructional video that will be playing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa will be opening this 2003/2004 ski season in the Summit Lodge and hotel guests are invited to indulge in the exclusive spa treatments of that in the past was a well-kept secret of the Javanese Royal families. Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa, well re-known in Indonesia and Malaysia, provides treatments based on the use of sophisticated, traditional Royal Javanese methods in combination with selected organic ingredients. Guests can treat themselves to an Oriental Massage, Javanese Massage, Royal Massage, Reflexology, Facial Treatments and Body Scrub. The Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa at the Summit Lodge in Whistler is comprised of five treatment rooms (including one exclusive treatment room for a couple with hydrotherapy tub in-suite), Vichy shower, Foot Spa facility, and sauna room.

In addition to the Yoga Program and the Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa, the Summit Lodge offers a variety of services and amenities that encourage city slickers to kickback, relax and be at one with Mother Nature. Gentle wind chimes welcome guests as they approach this cozy, boutique hotel. Aromatherapy oils are used to create a subtly rejuvenating experience as essence of bergamot & grapefruit waft throughout the lobby, hallways and rooms. The mood of the lobby is enhanced with candlelight and a Tranquil Water Garden. Guests are encouraged to borrow a Zen Rock Garden for their suite or maybe a book on meditation or relaxation from the library. “

I’m a huge fan of Kimpton Properties (such as Hotel Triton, Pacific Palisades and the Serrano) as their rooms are always perfectly cosy yet stylish and their services are brilliant without being gimmicky. Although I have yet to visit this property in Whistler, with the new Yoga program it gives me yet another reason to make that fall getaway.
